THE BLUEBERRY RAMP PROJECT

A large-scale, multi-year research and extension project designed to measure the changes in blueberry pest management systems when broad-spectrum insecticides are replaced by an IPM scouting program and reduced-risk insecticides. This is a pro-active attempt to develop economic and effective insect management programs in advance of expected FQPA-driven decisions on registration of effective insecticides. We are asking: Can blueberries be grown in the main blueberry production areas without OP’s or carbamate insecticides? This four year project started in 2003 and will end in late 2006.
This project is funded primarily by the USDA-CSREES from their Risk Avoidance and Mitigan Program (RAMP).
This website provides an overview of the project and our findings so far.
