Steve

I received my B.S. in Biology from Calvin College in Grand Rapids, MI in 1997 and my M.S. in Biological Sciences from Eastern Illinois University in Charleston, IL in 2000. My Master's research was on the emergence and reproductive behaviors of the Japanese beetle. I studied when male and female beetles emerged from the soil and how emergence related to specific mating and egg laying behaviors.

Currently, I am involved in various projects in the Berry Crops laboratory, including projects on grape IPM, potato leafhoppers, cranberry fruitworm, grape berry moth, and Japanese beetle.

In our spare time, my wife and I enjoy doing just about anything outside. This includes everything from backpacking to cross-country skiing in winter to running, camping, rollerblading, and hiking during the summer months. We also try to keep up with our young daughter who always keeps us busy!
